The Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) will host the ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional Contest 2025 on its campus on December 20.
The information was disclosed on Wednesday at a press conference held at the university’s International Conference Hall, where BUBT officials said the main contest of the prestigious international programming competition, widely known as the Olympics of Programming, will take place at the institution for the fourth time, according to a press release.
In his keynote address, BUBT Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ABM Shawkat Ali said the contest aims to identify the country’s top programming talents and provide them with an opportunity to represent Bangladesh on the global stage.
Organisers said this year’s edition will see the highest level of participation in the history of ICPC in Bangladesh, with 939 contestants from 313 teams across the country set to compete in the grand finale.
Md Shamsul Huda, FCA, member of the BUBT Trust, attended the event as a special guest.
Details of the competition and technical arrangements were presented by Md Saifur Rahman, regional contest director of ICPC Asia Dhaka Site 2025 and chairman of BUBT’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Dr Abul Lais MS Haque, associate director of ICPC Asia Dhaka Site 2025 and professor at North South University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Distinguished guest ICPC World Finals judge (2003–2018) Shahriar Manzoor and Prof Dr Munshi Mahbubur Rahman, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, were also present.
The press conference was moderated by Assistant Professor Md Ashraful Islam of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BUBT.
