Law enforcers detained the owner of the motorcycle used in the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has said.

Abdul Hannan was detained from Dhaka’s Mohammadpur on Sunday morning and handed over to Paltan Police Station. His home district is Chapainawabganj in Rajshahi, according to RAB.

Additionally, the motorbike used in the attack has been identified, said an official of the RAB.

The motorcycle from which shots were fired at Osman Hadi bears the number 54‑6375, and on paper, Hannan is its registered owner.

RAB said they are investigating whether he was involved in the killing.

Investigators say two suspects involved in the shooting have been identified, and operations to arrest them have been intensified. All units of law enforcement agencies including police, RAB, and intelligence services have been deployed. Investigators have reviewed CCTV footage.

The government has announced a reward of Tk50 lakh for information leading to the arrest of those responsible. Border surveillance has also been tightened.

Osman Hadi, a prospective candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. His condition remains critical, and he is described as being on the brink between life and death.

No case had been filed by Saturday evening following the shooting at Bijoynagar’s Culvert Road on Friday.
