At least four people were killed and two others injured in two separate road accidents in Mymensingh and Jhenaidah on Tuesday evening.

In Mymensingh, two people, including a woman and a child, were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a Mahindra vehicle and a lorry on the Mymensingh–Netrokona road at Raghurampur in Sadar upazila around 7:30pm.

Police said the accident occurred when the Mymensingh-bound Mahindra collided head-on with an oncoming lorry, leaving the vehicle severely damaged.

The deceased were identified as Rabia Khatun, 65, of Bowli village and an 18-month-old child, Taufiq, from Hironpur village in the same upazila.

The injured-Taufiq’s mother Khadija, 32, and Mahindra driver Mahbub-were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Police said the lorry fled the scene and could not be immediately located.
In a separate incident in Jhenaidah, two motorcyclists were killed when a truck ran over them on the Jhenaidah–Magura highway at Panchmile area around 6:30pm.

The deceased were identified as Arif Hossain, 17, son of Mizanur Rahman, and Sohan Ahmed, 17, Shipon Ahmed, of Bijoypur village in Sadar upazila.

Highway police said the duo was returning home on a motorcycle after collecting fuel when it collided with a three-wheeler (Mahindra).

They fell onto the road, where a sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction ran over them, killing them instantly.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The truck involved in the accident was later seized.
