In a remarkable achievement, 35 researchers from Dhaka University (DU) have been named in the prestigious global researchers’ list by Stanford University and Elsevier.
The “Top 2% Scientists in the World 2025” list saw a dramatic rise in the university’s representation, with DU’s presence growing by 250 percent compared to last year, when only 10 faculty members made the cut.
The recognition is based on the researchers’ published papers, citations, H-index, consistency, and the influence of co-authors, reflecting DU’s growing impact on international research and global knowledge exchange.
This year’s honourees represent a diverse range of fields, with DU maintaining its position as a leader in research within the country.
Notable faculty members featured in the list include MA Khalek, Mohammad Manjur Hasan, and Muhammad Ibrahim Shah.
DU Vice Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmad Khan congratulated the faculty on their achievements, stating that this recognition highlights not only their exceptional work, but also the university’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for research.
He further emphasised that despite challenges, DU is actively creating a sustainable, supportive atmosphere for researchers through initiatives that promote global cooperation, encourage publications, and increase engagement with international research organisations.
Khan said this achievement is a testament to the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance its research output and further establish itself as a key player in the global academic community.
