Three people, including two siblings, were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and an ambulance in Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur on Saturday.
The accident occurred around 7:30am in Munsurabad area on the Bhanga-Khulna Highway.
The deceased were identified as Nishan, 23, son of Rahmatullah of Rajganj village under Manirampur upazila, Jashore; Mizanur Rahman, 40, son of Babar Ali of Chaltibari village under Keshabpur upazila of the same district; and his daughter Beauty Begum, 30.
Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector Sohel Khan of Bhanga Highway Police Station said a Khulna-bound truck from Bhanga collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound ambulance coming from the opposite direction, leaving three people dead on the spot and two others injuriee.
On information, members of the highway police, local police and a Fire Service team rushed to the spot and sent the injured to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex.
Vehicular movement on the highway was disrupted for some time following the accident, but traffic has since returned to normal. Legal action has been taken in this regard.
