Three people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle on Khulna-Mongla highway in Bagerhat on Wednesday morning.
Md Jafar Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Katakhali Highway Police Station confirmed the matter.
The incident took place around 9:30am at Bhatta Balighata in the Chulkathi area.
One of the deceased has been identified as Abdul Kader. He was the driver of the motorcycle. The identities of the other two men are yet to be confirmed.
According to the OC Jafar, the motorcycle, carrying three people, was travelling from Mongla towards Khulna when it collided with an oncoming truck.
The motorcycle was pinned under the truck, resulting in one fatality at the scene.
Fire service personnel rescued the two other injured riders and transported them to Bagerhat District Hospital, where the attending physician declared them dead.
Ejazul Islam of the emergency department at Bagerhat 250-bed Hospital confirmed that the two men were dead on arrival.
Sheikh Mamunur Rashid, senior station officer of the Bagerhat Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the victims succumbed to their injuries before reaching the medical facility.
