Jatiya JuboShokti has temporarily suspended two leaders for threatening and harassing journalists by locking them in while they were covering a National Citizen Party (NCP) press conference.

The decision was announced in a notice signed by Joint Member Secretary (Office) Asadur Rahman on Tuesday night and published the notice on their official Facebook page.

Those suspended are Mehedi Hasan Farabi, chief organiser of the Rajshahi Jatiya Jubo Shakti, and Shoaib Ahmed, joint member secretary.

At the same time, Convener Tariqul Islam and Member Secretary Dr Zahedul Islam have directed these two individuals to provide a written explanation and appear in person within the next two days as to why they should not be permanently expelled for their disciplinary breach-related activities.

Furthermore, the notice mentioned that if satisfactory explanations are not provided within the stipulated time, necessary measures will be taken according to the organisation’s policies.

Previously, on Monday afternoon, a press conference for the new district committee of the NCP was held at the Rajshahi Tourism Motel.

At that time, Mehedi and Shoaib, and several others arrived and demanded journalists stop their broadcasts. They threatened that if the broadcasting did not stop, they would lock them inside the room.

In response, the journalists immediately protested. As the situation escalated, Shoaib and his associates ran outside. The journalists also pursued them. A tense situation ensued for some time in the premises of the Tourism Motel.
