Two children died after an old boundary wall collapsed on them in the North Badda area of Dhaka on Wednesday.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Camp In-Charge Inspector Md Faruk confirmed the matter and said the bodies have been kept at the morgue for autopsy. The victims were identified as Ayesha Moni, 10, and Nusrat Jahan Mariam, 5.
According to Md Iqbal, Ayesha’s father, the accident occurred around 12pm at Lane 10 in North-East Badda. Pedestrians rescued the critically injured children from under the debris and rushed them to a local hospital, from where they were transferred to DMCH. Doctors pronounced them dead at around 1:30pm.
Iqbal stated that they reside in Lane 8, and Mariam’s family lives in the adjacent house. He was at home when the tragedy struck while the two children were playing in the street.
