Seventeen people, including former ministers and state ministers of the ousted Awami League government, have been produced before the International Crimes Tribunal.
On Monday, those accused in crimes against humanity cases related to the July uprising were brought to the tribunal from different prisons, including Kashimpur Jail, under tight security surrounding the court.
The ICT-1, headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumdar, is scheduled to hold hearings on the progress of several cases.
Former adviser to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Salman F Rahman, energy adviser Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, former law minister Anisul Huq, former education minister Dipu Moni, former textiles and jute minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former agriculture minister Abdur Razzaq, former industries minister Amir Hossain Amu, former food minister Qamrul Islam, former shipping minister Shajahan Khan, Workers Party President and former minister Rashed Khan Menon, JSD President and former information minister Hasanul Haq Inu, and former state minister Kamal Ahmed Mojumdar are among the accused.
Former Supreme Court justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik, former home secretary Jahangir Alam, and former lawmakers Solaiman Selim and Faruk Khan are also among them.
