EC approves 16 local observer bodies for upcoming polls

The Election Commission (EC) has moved to extend approval to 16 additional local organisations to monitor the 13th parliamentary election scheduled for February 2026.

The announcement came today through a public notice issued under the signature of Akhtar Ahmed, senior secretary of the EC Secretariat.

According to the notice, anyone wishing to raise an objection or file a claim regarding the registration of these observer groups must submit it in writing to the senior secretary of the EC Secretariat in Agargaon, Dhaka, within 15 working days, ending on 27 November.

The organisations listed for registration are Asho Jati Gori (AJAG), Netrakona Social Development Organisation (NSDO), Development Organisation of the Rural Poor (DORP), Help Center for Human Rights Foundation, Keraniganj Human Resources Development Society, Dipto Mohila Unnayan Sangstha (DMUS), Rural Economic Social Development Organisation (RESDO), Rustic, Bachte Shekha, People’s Association for Social Advancement (PASA), International-ASF-Legal Aid Foundation, Manab Unnayan Kendra (MUK), Bangladesh Society for the Change and Advocacy Nexus (B-SCAN), Jubo Academy, Shariatpur Development Society (SDS) and Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB).

On 6 November, the EC had already issued a separate circular approving the registration of 66 other local election-observer bodies.
