Zack Snyder’s upcoming drama-thriller, “The Last Photograph”, is set to have its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The film will be screened on 13 September at 6:30pm local time at the John Bassett Theatre, a new TIFF screening venue located at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
“The Last Photograph” follows a former DEA agent who embarks on a revenge-driven journey through the South American jungle.
The film features Stuart Martin, Fra Fee, Jackie Kay, Costanza Andrade, Carolina Henao and Marlon Moreno in its cast.
Snyder has directed the film and co-written its screenplay with Kurt Johnstad.
The filmmaker is widely known for directing several major films based on DC characters, including “Man of Steel”, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and the four-hour “Snyder Cut” version of “Justice League”.
His other notable credits include “Dawn of the Dead”, “300” and “Watchmen”.
Snyder is also working on a remake of “Escape from New York”, which is being developed with The Picture Company and StudioCanal.
TIFF 2026 will feature several other high-profile films. Among them is “I Play Rocky”, a biographical drama centred on Sylvester Stallone’s journey while making the 1976 boxing classic “Rocky”.
Directed by Peter Farrelly, the film stars Anthony Ippolito as Stallone.
The festival’s Special Presentation programme will also include “Misty Green”, written, directed by and starring Chris Rock.
The film features Rosalind Eleazar, Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, Topher Grace and Anthony Anderson.
The 2026 Toronto International Film Festival will take place in downtown Toronto from 10 to 20 September.
The festival is scheduled to close with “Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend”, a sports drama exploring the early career of Canadian racing icon Gilles Villeneuve, which will screen on 19 September.
