Barcelona extended their lead at the top of LaLiga to nine points with a commanding 4–1 victory over city rivals Espanyol at Camp Nou, as Lamine Yamal made history on another dominant night for Hansi Flick’s side.

Yamal stole the spotlight by becoming the youngest player to reach 100 LaLiga appearances, achieving the feat at just 18 years and 272 days — surpassing the previous record held by Real Madrid legend Raúl González.

The teenager also played a decisive role in the result, contributing both creatively and on the scoresheet.

Barcelona made a strong start and took the lead in the ninth minute, with Ferran Torres converting from Yamal’s corner for his 13th league goal of the season.

The same combination produced the second goal in the 25th minute, as Yamal again turned provider and Torres finished from close range to double the advantage.

Espanyol struggled to gain any control in the first half, managing only a single notable effort through Kike García.

The visitors showed some improvement after the break and reduced the deficit in the 55th minute when Pol Lozano finished from close range, shortly after Barcelona had a goal disallowed by VAR.

However, any hopes of a comeback were short-lived.

Yamal capped his record-breaking night by capitalising on a goalkeeping error, pressing Marko Dmitrović before slotting into an empty net to restore Barcelona’s two-goal cushion.

Substitute Marcus Rashford then completed the scoring in the 88th minute with a well-taken volley following a neat build-up involving Frenkie de Jong.

The victory strengthens Barcelona’s grip on the title race, moving them nine points clear of second-placed Real Madrid and putting them firmly in control with the season entering its final stretch.
