Being a woman is not always easy. At every stage of life, there are expectations to meet, roles to juggle, and challenges to overcome, often silently. When life feels overwhelming, sometimes all a woman needs is another woman’s presence. Someone who understands without explanation. Someone who holds her hand and gently says, “Take a deep breath. You’ll be fine.”
Woman-to-woman advice goes beyond guidance. It creates a circle of empathy, trust, and empowerment where lived experiences turn into lessons, and shared support becomes strength.
Know your worth:
One of the most powerful messages women pass on to one another is this: know your worth. A woman’s value is not defined by her appearance, her job, or others’ opinions. True confidence grows from self-respect and belief in one’s own abilities. When women understand their worth, they set boundaries and teach others how to treat them.
Maria, a banker, puts it simply, “Never lose yourself trying to please others. Never compromise your self-respect for love, attention, or approval. The right people will value you without asking you to shrink.”
Ariba, a student at Dhaka University, echoes the same belief and said, “No matter what, you should never compromise your self-respect and never stop standing up for yourself.”
Self-care is important:
Self-care is another critical aspect of women’s lives. It’s a common tendency among women to put others first in priority. Putting yourself first is not something to feel guilty about. Boundaries aren’t selfish; they are essential for sustaining balance and inner tranquillity. Whenever necessary, step out alone, treat yourself to flowers, and prepare for emptiness.
A woman named Usha from Dhaka shared, “Once someone told me whenever I feel low or heavy, I should put my makeup on and get out in the fresh air and it worked.”
Trust your gut feeling:
Women often carry a strong inner instinct, a quiet voice that knows when something feels right or wrong. Trusting that intuition helps guide both everyday decisions and life-changing choices. Listening inward builds confidence and clarity in complex moments.
Singer Mitua believes in it firmly. She said, “A woman’s gut feeling is never wrong. That’s what I believe, and that’s what I tell my girls.”
Learn to say NO:
Saying NO is not rude or unkind. Every time you say no to something that doesn’t serve you, you’re saying YES to your well-being. That’s how a woman should protect their time, energy and mental health. Start small, decline what feels unnecessary and gradually take control of bigger decisions.
Keka Karim got this lesson from another woman. “Understand your worth and never settle for less. Learn to say No and always fight for what is right”, she said.
Stop comparing yourself:
Every woman’s journey is different. Measuring yourself against someone’s life only creates unnecessary pressure and self-doubt. Instead of competing with others, focus on your own progress and celebrate your wins. Learning to embrace your own journey is liberating.
A housewife, Ushoshi, shared, “My mom would always tell me no two hands are the same and comparison is the greatest thief.”
Be independent in every way:
Independence is one of the most empowering qualities a woman can gain. Being independent doesn’t just mean handling finances or living on your own; it means being self-sufficient emotionally, mentally and socially.
However, being independent in every way doesn’t mean rejecting help or connection. It is just a clarification that nobody has the right to control you.
“My sister’s told me that don’t be dependent on anyone, never let anyone control your life and don’t keep any expectations from anyone”, said Iffat Ara, an artist.
Woman to woman, it’s important to support each other, take care of ourselves, face our fears and follow our own paths. When women share wisdom, encouragement and love, they become stronger together. If you see a woman falling apart, just hold her hand and be her light in the dark; she will find her way.
