In Gobindaganj, Gaibandha, a 35-year-old woman, Shiuli Begum, was allegedly murdered by her 45-year-old husband, Farid Uddin, on Saturday evening.

The incident occurred in the Bagda Bazar Tower area of Katabari village under Katabari Union. According to police and local residents, Farid attacked Shiuli with a sharp weapon during a domestic dispute, inflicting fatal injuries.

After the assault, Farid reportedly fled the scene, leaving the body in a nearby banana grove. Shiuli Begum was Farid’s second wife, and the couple had an 8-year-old son. Farid’s first wife has two children.

Sharif Mia, the victim’s father, claimed that his daughter had been subjected to physical and mental abuse since her marriage. He demanded the immediate arrest of Farid and called for exemplary punishment.

Bulbul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Police Station, said the body was recovered and sent to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police have launched operations to apprehend the fugitive.
