Christian Eriksen has signed a two-year contract with VfL Wolfsburg after leaving Manchester United as a free agent earlier this summer. The German club confirmed the move on Wednesday.
The Danish midfielder played 310 matches in the Premier League for Manchester United, Brentford, and Tottenham Hotspur. He also had spells at Ajax and Inter Milan.
Eriksen, now 33, suffered a cardiac arrest during a European Championship match against Finland in 2021. He made his return to football after being fitted with a heart device.
Wolfsburg sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz welcomed the signing. He said Eriksen’s experience, quality, and leadership would help the club’s younger players.
Wolfsburg are sixth in the Bundesliga and will face Cologne at home on Saturday.
