Bangladesh Under-19 women stand one win away from SAFF Championship glory as they face India on Saturday, armed with momentum, belief and a captain convinced the trophy will return home.
The young Tigresses stormed into the final after hammering hosts Nepal 4–0 on Wednesday. That result sealed a perfect round-robin campaign with nine points, 18 goals scored and not a single goal conceded.
Peter Butler’s side have played with pace, width and aggression. They press high, move the ball quickly and suffocate opponents before danger ever reaches their own defence.
India booked the other final place with an 8–0 demolition of Bhutan. Yet Bangladesh hold a psychological edge after beating their old rivals 2–0 earlier in the tournament.
Captain Arpita Biswas set the tone with calm confidence. “The team is in very good condition. There are no injuries and everyone is fit,” she said, making it clear this squad arrives sharp in both body and mind.
Arpita pushed the belief further and leaned on recent history. “We have already beaten India once in this tournament, and because of that there is a special energy within the team,” she said, before adding, “We believe we can beat them again and bring the championship trophy back to Bangladesh, Inshallah.” That sounds like confidence, not bravado.
Bangladesh took Thursday off as a full recovery day. The staff focused on rest, freshness and keeping heads clear ahead of the biggest match of the campaign.
