The Centre for Research and Training (CRT) at Uttara University successfully organised a two-day annual project proposal defense programme titled “Showcasing Research Excellence: CRT Proposal Defense 2026,” at the Conference Room of the university’s permanent campus.
The event was inaugurated by Professor ASM Shahabuddin, director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), who underscored the need for maintaining high research standards to uphold academic integrity and promote innovation, according to a press release.
On Wednesday, the opening session was attended by Professor Md Sultanul Islam, director of CRT; Associate Director Saleh Ahmad; Executive Members Nilufer Yesmin Tanisa and Kazi Sirajul Islam; along with Jabed Hossen Emon and other officials on Wednesday.
A total of 40 research project proposals spanning science, engineering, social sciences, and humanities were presented by 55 research scholars.
Participants showcased their research objectives, methodologies, and anticipated contributions, making the programme an interactive academic platform.
To ensure quality and academic rigor, 24 external and 21 internal experts and professors from 18 public and private universities served as reviewers.
They provided detailed evaluations and constructive feedback aimed at improving and refining the proposed research works.
Organisers noted that the CRT initiative continues to strengthen a culture of research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic engagement, aligning with Uttara University’s motto, “Excellence in Higher Education and Research.”
On Thursday, the closing ceremony was addressed by Vice Chancellor Professor Easymin Ara Lekha, who encouraged participants to pursue innovation, uphold ethical research practices, and strive for academic excellence.
The two-day programme concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing impactful research and contributing meaningfully to the broader academic community.
