The United States mission in Kuwait announced on Tuesday that it has ceased operations until further notice, attributing the decision to “ongoing regional tensions”.
The suspension follows reports of smoke being seen at the embassy on Monday, an incident noted by an AFP correspondent in the aftermath of Iranian strikes against the country.
In a formal communication issued via the social media platform X, the embassy stated that all regular and emergency consular appointments have been cancelled. The mission did not specify when it expects to reopen to the public, maintaining the closure for an indefinite period due to the current regional climate.
