The first shipment of US corn in eight years has arrived in Bangladesh, landing at Chattogram Port on Wednesday.
The cargo, totaling 57,855 metric tons of yellow corn, was harvested in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota during the 2025–26 crop year and shipped from Vancouver, Washington.
The arrival provides Bangladeshi feed millers their first opportunity since 2018 to source high-quality US corn for animal nutrition.
US Embassy Dhaka Agricultural Attaché Erin Covert received the shipment at the port, alongside representatives from three leading feed milling companies – Nahar Agro Group, Paragon Group, and Nourish Poultry and Hatchery Limited.
A United Grain Corporation (UGC) official, a major US grain exporter, said: “We are honoured to be a part of the first shipment of United States corn to Bangladesh in eight years. We appreciate the work of all those involved and look forward to supplying Bangladesh with US grains for years to come.”
The shipment underscores renewed trade ties in agricultural commodities between the US and Bangladesh, marking a significant step for the country’s livestock and poultry sectors.
