Bollywood model and content creator Urfi Javed has alleged that she received rape and death threats and faced severe online abuse following her win in the reality show ‘The Traitors’, according to a social media post shared on June 13.
Urfi said she was subjected to intense trolling, abusive messages and threats after winning the first season of the Indian edition of the reality show ‘The Traitors’, which she later deleted after posting.
In her message, she claimed that the level of abuse she faced included rape and murder threats. She also alleged that some individuals accessed her phone number and contacted her directly to hurl abuse.
She wrote that what she experienced was only a small fraction of the harassment, adding that such threats and abuse had become normalised for many women on social media. She also said, “I have faced the most horrific trolling, abuse, rape threats and death threats. And this is just one percent of it.”
Urfi further stated that online harassment against women had become routine, describing it as a broader issue beyond her own experience.
The reality show’s first season, the Indian adaptation of an international format, was released on an OTT platform in June 2025 and was hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar. Urfi and Nikita Luther emerged as joint winners, sharing a prize of Rs 7.5 lakh.
Following their win, Urfi said she faced continued online criticism and targeted negative comments. She later deleted the post in which she detailed her experience.
The makers of ‘The Traitors’ have already announced a second season, with Karan Johar expected to return as host.
