The deceased have been identified as Abu Bakkar, 5, and Omar Faruk, 2, sons of Mazedul Sheikh of the village.
The incident occurred around 11:30 am while the children were playing near their house. According to local residents and family members, the parents were occupied with household work at the time. When the children could not be found for some time, relatives began searching for them.
During the search, the boys were discovered floating in a pond adjacent to their home. They were immediately rescued and taken to Narail District Hospital. Doctors on duty at the emergency department pronounced both children dead.
Ajay Kumar Kundu, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narail Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident and said police have been dispatched to the scene. He added that following legal procedures, the bodies will be handed over to the family.
