A small tourist plane has crashed in Peru, killing all 13 people on board, officials said.
The Cessna Caravan C‑208 went down Saturday while flying over the Nazca Lines, a UNESCO World Heritage site, BBC reports.
Eleven passengers — two German, two Spanish and seven Italian nationals — and two Peruvian pilots were aboard, according to state news agency reports.
Police Major Jorge Andrade told AFP, “Given the severity of the accident, there are no survivors. We have recovered four bodies so far.”
The crash occurred around 13:00 local time (19:00 BST) in Pueblo Viejo after departing from Pisco airport.
Video from Reuters showed firefighters spraying water on the smoking wreckage. The Municipalidad Provincial de Nasca expressed “deep sorrow” and offered condolences to victims’ families.
The aircraft belonged to local carrier Aerodiana, which said it would review its flight schedule under official directives.
The Nazca Lines, vast desert geoglyphs depicting animals and figures, are a popular tourist attraction often viewed from small planes.
Similar accidents have occurred in 2022, a crash killed seven, and in 2010, another killed six.
