A member of a criminal gang, “B Company”, was shot by miscreants in Rupsa upazila of Khulna Tuesday night.
The incident occurred around 9:30pm in front of Abu Salehin School in Debipur village under Naihati union.
Injured Mir Mamun is from Bagmara village in the upazila.
According to police and locals, two unidentified persons abducted Mamun and took him to Debipur village. The attackers then shot him in the head and left him there.
Locals rescued Mamun and initially took him to Rupsa Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, he was later transferred to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Confirming the incident, Khulna District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tajul Islam said that Mamun is a member of the “B Company” led by top terrorist Grenade Babu.
He said a police operation is underway to arrest those involved in the attack.
