Police recovered the slit-throat body of a listed criminal and accused in multiple-case from a bush near his residence in Jashore Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sayed Sardar alias “Chasma Said”, 35, son of Naya Sardar of Raghuram Pur village under Arabpur Union.
Police said Sayed was facing multiple cases with Kotwali Police Station, including charges related to arms possession, extortion, attempted murder, and drug-related offences.
Locals said they noticed blood stains in a bush near his house in the morning and later found the body lying there.
A blood-stained sharp weapon was also recovered from the scene. Police were then informed.
A team from Jashore Kotwali Police Station visited the spot and conducted an initial investigation. Locals suspect the killing may have originated from internal disputes over drug trade or local dominance in the area, although police have not confirmed any motive.
Inspector (Operations) of Kotwali Police Station Mominul Haque said police recovered the body after being informed and sent it to Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
He added that several police teams are working to identify those involved and uncover the motive behind the killing.
