Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested three more individuals in connection with the attack, looting, and arson at the offices of the dailies Prothom Alo and The Daily Star in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka. Deputy Police Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman informed this through a press release on Wednesday.
The arrested individuals are Md Zakir Hossain Shanto (29), Md Swapan Mondal (30), and Niaz Mahmud Farhan (21).
The release stated that Md Zakir Hossain Shanto was arrested from the Bailey Road area under Ramna Police Station on Tuesday, and Md Swapan Mondal was arrested from the Abdullahpur intersection area under Tongi Police Station in Gazipur district around midnight on Wednesday by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the police.
Earlier, around 1:30am on Tuesday, a team from the DB Cyber North Division conducted an operation in the Borhanuddin Police Station area of Bhola district and arrested Niaz Mahmud Farhan.
Police informed that the arrested individuals have been sent to court.
The total number of arrests so far in the attack on the Prothom Alo and The Daily Star offices is now 31.
