A post attributed to actress Rukaiya Jahan Chamak, claiming she criticised her political experience and made remarks about past street protests, has been confirmed as false.
A widely shared photocard circulating on social media suggested that the small-screen actress made comments about being “used and not given a parliamentary seat” and regretting earlier protest involvement. However, fact-checkers have established that the statement was not made by her.
The image in question originated from a satirical Facebook page, which clearly identifies itself as a parody platform. The page regularly publishes humour-based content, but the post was later shared elsewhere as genuine news.
A review of the page and its content shows multiple satirical posts presented in a similar style, indicating the viral claim was taken out of context.
No credible media outlet has reported any such statement from Chamak.
Chamak sought nomination from BNP for the reserved women’s seat in the 13th National Parliament. However, the actress did not receive nominations.
The circulating claim has therefore been identified as misleading and not based on any verified statement from the actress.
