After years of speculation, ‘The Simpsons Movie 2’ has an official release date: arriving in cinemas on July 23, 2027, exactly two decades after the first film hit screens, Screen Rant confirms.
Created by Matt Groening, The Simpsons remains the longest-running animated sitcom and TV series in history. The original film, released in July 2007, was both a critical and commercial hit, grossing over $536 million worldwide against a $75 million budget.
Its storyline saw Springfield trapped under a giant glass dome after Homer polluted the town’s lake, a premise that scaled the show’s humour to cinematic proportions.
The sequel announcement was made via 20th Century Studios’ Instagram, with the film taking the slot of a previously untitled Marvel project, now dropped from the release calendar. Plot details are being kept under wraps.
