Famous tourist destination, Maya Bay in Thailand, is closed to visitors from August 1 to September 30, 2025. This was announced by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation.
Excessive tourism, boat traffic and environmental negligence have already caused significant harm to this beach’s coral reefs and marine habitat. The officials also warned that during the rainy season, big storms and strong waves may put visitors in danger.
Various steps will be taken to restore the natural equilibrium of the beach and water during this two-month closure. This will involve cleaning up trash, repairing the coral, and ensuring that marine animals have a safe home. During this period, tourist entry, boat tours and diving at Maya Bay will be strictly prohibited.
Previously, in 2018, the area was closed for four years. Although this time the closure is shorter, the message is clear: nature can no longer bear the strain.
