Actor Teyana Taylor confronted a security guard at the 2026 Academy Awards after claiming he had shoved her while she was attempting to return to the stage with her ‘One Battle After Another’ co-stars.
According to TMZ, the incident occurred after the broadcast ended on Sunday night. A video shared online by X (formerly Twitter) user Matt Wallace captured Taylor saying, “You’re a man putting your hands on a female.” She repeatedly called the guard “very rude” and added, “He literally shoved me. Everybody’s having a good time. But when you shove me, it’s a different story. Do not touch me, do not shove me.”’
Eyewitnesses and social media users expressed support for Taylor. One comment read, “If someone says they were touched without consent, that’s usually the part worth focusing on.” Another said, “That’s wild! Sounds like things got really heated. Hope Teyana Taylor is alright – nobody should have to deal with that, even at the Oscars.”
The report states that the security guard tried to stop Taylor and Pam Abdi from accessing the stage for the Best Picture photo. He allegedly used his body to block Taylor and put his hands on her in an attempt to prevent her from moving past him.
Speaking to TMZ after the incident, Taylor said, “Security was just doing a lot. There’s always that one, but I’m perfectly fine. I’m happy. There’s nothing to wonder. The first thing people do is definitely make assumptions. But at the end of the day, I just don’t tolerate disrespect, especially when it’s unwarranted and unprovoked.”
Taylor was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in One Battle After Another, which dominated the Oscars with six wins, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Casting, Best Editing and Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn.
The film, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, is inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel ‘Vineland’ and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall and Chase Infiniti.
In addition to her Oscar nomination, Taylor also received supporting actress nods at the Actor Awards, BAFTAs, Critics’ Choice and won at the Golden Globes.
