Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon has said, peaceful coexistence of all regardless of religion and race must be ensured across the world.
He said the brutal atrocities being carried out against Muslims in the Middle East are particularly painful.
“On this holy day, we must pray for ensuring peaceful coexistence of all people across the world regardless of religion and race,” he said.
He made the remarks after offering Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the South Sarikal Madhyapara Darul Jannat Noor Eidgah ground in Gournadi, Barishal, at 7:30am on Thursday.
The minister said Eid-ul-Azha is one of the greatest religious festivals for Muslims around the world and carries the message of sacrifice and self-surrender.
“Through this festival, people learn the values of sacrifice and devotion. Every year, Eid-ul-Azha inspires us with the spirit of making the highest sacrifice for the satisfaction of Almighty Allah,” he said.
He further said, “On this joyous occasion of Eid, we seek prayers from the people of the country so that Almighty Allah inspires us all with the spirit of unity, sacrifice and compassion. At the same time, may He grant us the strength to move the country forward on the path of development and prosperity.”
