Fans of ‘Stranger Things’ will have the chance to watch the first two episodes of the animated spinoff Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 in select US cinemas on 18 April.
The screenings, organised in partnership with AMC Theatres, will take place at 12:00 and 15:00 local time at 34 locations across the US. Special showings will also be held at the Paris Theatre in New York and at Netflix House Philadelphia.
This is not Netflix’s first foray into theatrical releases. Earlier this month, the first two episodes of One Piece Season 2 premiered in cinemas, and the series finale of Stranger Things was also shown on the big screen in December.
The animated spinoff, created by showrunner Eric Robles and executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, will launch globally on Netflix on 23 April.
According to the official synopsis, Tales From ’85 is set in the winter of 1985, when the town is blanketed in snow and the horrors of the Upside Down are beginning to fade.
The voice cast includes Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Benjamin Plessala as Will and Brett Gipson as Hopper.
