Development of the third instalment in the Star Wars Jedi series continues at Respawn Entertainment, with a new job listing indicating that work on the next chapter of Cal Kestis’ story remains active, according to Screen Rant.
The update emerged after the X account Star Wars Holocron highlighted a recent recruitment post for a Narrative Designer dedicated to the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While the listing does not reveal how far development has progressed, it suggests the studio continues to expand the team working on the project.
The Star Wars Jedi games have become one of the franchise’s most successful modern entries, following Cal Kestis from his introduction on the scrapyard planet Bracca to the events of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The upcoming title is expected to conclude the trilogy.
According to Screen Rant, the continued hiring comes at a time when many game studios are reducing staff, making Respawn’s ongoing recruitment an encouraging sign for the project’s development. The report also notes that the series does not face the same pressure as long-dormant franchises, allowing developers more time to complete the game.
Rumours also continue to suggest that Cal Kestis could appear in other Star Wars projects beyond video games. As one of the franchise’s most prominent characters in the period following Order 66, he could feature in other stories without conflicting with established canon.
However, fans are likely to wait some time before returning to Cal’s journey. Although the game remains Respawn’s primary focus, current estimates place its release no earlier than late 2027 or early 2028, given the lengthy production process, including extensive motion-capture work.
