An interactive art workshop for 15 children under the care of the JAAGO Foundation was held at Galleri Kaya in Uttara on Thursday.
The session was organised by Galleri Kaya with the support of Standard Chartered Bangladesh as part of a broader initiative to make art more accessible to underserved communities, reads a press release.
The workshop was led by renowned Indian artist Chandra Bhattacharya, with participation from artist Atin Basak and several local artists. During the session, children engaged in painting and various creative activities, interacting closely with the artists to explore different techniques in an inspiring environment.
Md Enamul Huque, chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, stated that the bank has a long-standing commitment to supporting children’s education and overall development.
“We believe helping children realise their full potential goes beyond access to education alone,” he said, noting the importance of nurturing creativity, imagination, and emotional wellbeing.
He added that the partnership with Galleri Kaya aims to bring the transformative power of art to communities that may otherwise have limited access to such experiences.
The initiative also includes a trip to Madhupur on 11 and 12 July, where participating artists will conduct interactive sessions with members of the indigenous Garo community to celebrate their heritage and traditions through art.
These workshops reflect a commitment to supporting children’s mental development and confidence while promoting inclusivity and cultural diversity.
In addition to the workshops, an exhibition featuring the works of Chandra Bhattacharya will be inaugurated at Galleri Kaya on 10 July. The exhibition will remain open to visitors until 21 July.
