Indian actor and politician Soham Chakraborty has once again courted controversy after a carpenter accused him and his security guard of assaulting him over a payment dispute.
Carpenter Raj Kapoor Sharma has filed a written complaint at Behala police station in Kolkata, alleging that he was abused, assaulted and threatened when he went to Soham’s residence to collect outstanding payment for furniture work.
According to the complaint, Sharma began making a wardrobe at Soham’s house on 12 May under a contract worth ₹55,000.
He received an advance of ₹30,000 and completed around 80% of the work before being asked to make two additional wardrobes.
Sharma alleged that he completed more than half of the additional work but received no further payment.
When he went to ask for the money, Soham and his security guard, Toton Sardar, allegedly assaulted and humiliated him and threatened to kill him.
Soham’s side has not yet responded to requests for comment.
The latest allegation comes after a case was filed against the actor in July over claims that he misappropriated ₹68 lakh belonging to a film producer and issued death threats.
Soham also faced controversy during his tenure as an MLA following allegations that he harassed and assaulted employees at a Kolkata restaurant.
