Summit LNG Terminal Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. has appointed Md Sayedul Alam as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The announcement was made on Wednesday through an official statement issued by Summit.
Alam has been closely involved with the project since its inception, leading its development and commissioning as Project Director in 2018.
Summit LNG Terminal, located offshore at Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, is Bangladesh’s second floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), with the capacity to regasify 500 million standard cubic feet per day and store 138,000 cubic metres of LNG.
The terminal is a joint venture between Summit and Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation, backed by lead financing from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.
Alam previously served as Terminal Manager, overseeing daily operations and maintaining a record of high operational availability and reliability.
Summit LNG is linked to the national grid through a six-kilometre subsea pipeline and operates under a long-term vessel support services agreement with PSA Marine, Singapore.
With more than 30 years of experience in the maritime and energy sectors, Alam has held senior positions at MOL Tankship Management Asia, Ocean Tankers, and K Line.
He holds a BSc in Marine Engineering from Bangladesh Marine Academy and an MBA from Murdoch University, Australia.
He also holds an Advanced Diploma in Marine Engineering from the Singapore Maritime Academy and a Class-1 Certificate of Competency from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
Alam is currently pursuing a Master’s in Economics at North South University and is affiliated with professional organisations such as IMarEST and SMOU.
Summit Group described his appointment as a continuation of its strategic commitment to strengthening energy infrastructure in Bangladesh.
