Samiha Khan has been appointed director of Daffodil Group, marking a significant milestone in her professional journey.
The announcement was made at a ceremony held at Daffodil Plaza in Sobhanbagh in the capital last Thursday, according to a press release.
The appointment recognises her outstanding professionalism, efficiency, and wide-ranging contributions over the past five years, during which she served in various strategic roles within the group.
In acknowledgement of her achievements, she was entrusted with one of the organisation’s top leadership positions.
During the ceremony, Samiha Khan received three separate institutional recognitions. Daffodil Group CEO Mohammad Nuruzzaman, formally handed over her appointment letter as Director. Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University Prof MR Kabir, presented her with a certificate of appreciation for her leadership and commitment to the institution.
She also received a special recognition award for her contributions to the group’s foundational philosophy and organisational development.
Before joining Daffodil, Samiha Khan held several key roles in national and international organisations. She worked as an intern at the English daily Dhaka Tribune during June and July 2014.
In 2016, she joined the Yunus Centre founded by Nobel Laureate and chief adviser of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus where she was engaged in social development and policy-related work as an intern.
She later served as a research assistant at the UK-based organisation Citizens UK from January to April 2017. In 2019, she worked as a course ambassador at Middlesex University in the UK from January to December.
From July to November 2020, she held the position of marketing director at Keen UCL. At the same time, from September 2020 to June 2023, she worked with the Youth Policy Forum as coordinator and network lead of the Environment Policy Network, contributing to youth leadership development in policy and environmental issues.
Over the past five years at Daffodil Group, she has worked across several key divisions, including future DIU, Brand and Communications, Career Development Center, International Affairs, HRDI, Daffodil International School, and Daffodil Computers Limited.
Under her leadership, a Structured HR Software System was introduced, which now serves as the foundation for a transparent and modern employee evaluation system across the group.
Samiha Khan completed her undergraduate degree at Middlesex University, UK, and her postgraduate degree at University College London (UCL). She is currently serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University.
She will formally assume her responsibilities as director of Daffodil Group from 1 February 2026. Alongside this role, she will continue to serve as a director of the publicly listed company Daffodil Computers PLC.
Daffodil Group believes that the appointment reflects its commitment to merit-based leadership development and strengthens the organisation’s succession planning policy. Senior officials of Daffodil Group and Daffodil International University were present at the ceremony.
