Bangladesh fast bowler Rubel Hossain has retired from international cricket. He shared the news in a post on social media on Wednesday.
Rubel said the national team was always close to his heart. But he felt the time had come to step away from the international stage.
“I am pacer Rubel Hossain. I have played 27 Tests, 104 ODIs and 28 T20Is for Bangladesh. The national team is my emotion. But at one point, I had to say goodbye to international cricket. Thinking about that, I have decided to retire,” he wrote.
He ends his career with 193 wickets across formats. He was a key part of Bangladesh’s pace attack for many years.
Rubel also said he will continue to play domestic cricket. He thanked his family, friends, media and fans for their support.
He added that he hopes to stay close to everyone in the days ahead.
Rubel made his debut in 2009. He went on to play for Bangladesh for more than a decade.
