Veteran Bangladeshi actress Rina Rahman, known for her memorable performances on television, film and stage, has passed away.
She breathed her last at around 9pm on Monday, leaving the country’s cultural fraternity in mourning.
The news of her death was confirmed by actor and director Anubhab Mahabub. The Actors’ Equity Bangladesh also confirmed the information in a statement shared on social media, expressing deep condolences to her bereaved family and praying for the eternal peace of her soul.
According to various sources, Rina Rahman had been suffering from multiple health complications for a long time.
Despite her illness, she continued working regularly.
However, as her physical condition deteriorated in recent months, she became less active in the industry.
Until shortly before her death, she was appearing in the popular television serial Parampara.
Throughout her long acting career, Rina Rahman earned acclaim for portraying a wide range of characters across television dramas, films and stage productions.
Her notable works include the iconic BTV drama Sangsaptak (1987), the films Ghani (2006) and Thikana (1994), as well as the popular television serial Man Abhiman.
