Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower received a 15 per cent fine for breaching the IPL 2026 Code of Conduct during RCB’s two-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in Raipur on Sunday. The IPL charged Flower with a Level 1 offence under Article 2.3, which covers the use of an audible obscenity during a match.
The incident took place in the 17.2 over of RCB’s chase. Flower argued with the fourth umpire near the dugout after confusion over a boundary decision involving Krunal Pandya.
Krunal lofted AM Ghazanfar towards wide long-on, where Naman Dhir completed a relay effort near the ropes. Dhir pushed the ball towards Tilak Varma while stepping over the boundary line, but Tilak appeared to signal for six instead of attempting the catch.
Players and support staff questioned whether Dhir touched the boundary cushions during the effort. Television replays later showed he avoided contact with the ropes. Krunal, struggling with cramp, did not attempt a run and the delivery ended as a dot ball.
The IPL said Flower admitted to “speaking aggressively with the fourth umpire” and accepted the sanction handed down by match referee Amit Sharma. IPL regulations treat Level 1 offences as final and binding once the accused accepts the punishment.
Despite the dugout frustration, RCB completed the chase from a tense final over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar drove the turnaround with bat and ball.
The seamer earlier claimed four wickets to limit Mumbai Indians. RCB then needed nine from the final three balls. Bhuvneshwar struck Raj Angad Bawa for six over point before Bengaluru sealed victory from the final delivery.
Krunal later described Bhuvneshwar’s strike as the “shot of the match” after scoring 73 himself. The win lifted RCB to the top of the IPL 2026 table with their seventh victory of the campaign.
