Rangpur and Rajshahi Zones secured their places in the Notun Kuri Sports cricket final after winning their respective semi-finals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
The two teams will now meet in the title decider at the same venue on Friday after producing contrasting victories in the last four.
Rangpur booked the first place in the final with an eight run victory over Faridpur under the Duckworth-Lewis method. Rain interrupted the contest during Rangpur’s chase, forcing officials to revise the target.
Faridpur had set a target of 90. Rangpur made a strong start and raced to 52 without loss in just five overs before the weather brought play to a halt. The revised calculation confirmed Rangpur as the winners and sent them through to the final.
Rajshahi joined them later in the day with a commanding display against Sylhet. Batting first, Rajshahi posted an imposing 125 for four from their 10 overs.
Sadid led the innings with a fluent 53 and provided the foundation for a challenging total. His knock helped Rajshahi maintain the scoring rate throughout the innings and put Sylhet under immediate pressure.
Rajshahi’s bowlers then completed the job in impressive fashion. They restricted Sylhet to 67 for seven from 10 overs to seal a convincing victory and complete the final line-up.
The comprehensive win highlighted Rajshahi’s strength with both bat and ball. Meanwhile, Rangpur showed composure in difficult conditions to overcome Faridpur and keep their title hopes alive.
Friday’s final promises an intriguing contest between two sides that have impressed throughout the competition. Rangpur will look to build on their resilient semi-final performance, while Rajshahi will aim to carry their dominant form into the championship match.
