Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed assured on Thursday night that the police will submit chargesheet for the murder of seven-year-old Ramisa to court by Sunday afternoon.

The announcement followed a visit by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to Ramisa’s residence in Pallabi at 10pm to console her grieving parents and elder sister.

Tarique was accompanied by the home minister, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, State Minister for Sports Aminul Haque, the Prime Minister’s Defence Advisor AKM Shamsul Islam, and Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Alam Milton.

Salahuddin informed journalists that the police department has successfully arrested the accused, who has already provided a confessional statement under Section 164. He explained that a DNA test is currently being conducted at the CID lab with court permission.

As the scientific process requires 48 hours, the results are expected by Sunday noon, which will allow the chargesheet to be filed later that afternoon.

During the visit, Tarique assured the family that he would bear all educational and ancillary expenses for Ramisa’s elder sister. In response to the family’s request for a safe place to live, the prime minister also pledged to arrange a permanent shelter for them within a very short time.

Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has committed to implementing necessary amendments to the law to prevent the recurrence of such crimes.

Asaduzzaman added that the victim’s family expressed satisfaction with the legal steps taken so far, describing the speed of the arrest as unprecedented. The family’s primary demand remains swift and fair justice.
