Bangladeshi actor Dilara Hanif Rita, popularly known as Purnima, has finally addressed the viral social media discussion surrounding the women she referred to as her “friends” in a widely shared video.
Whether on the silver screen or social media, Purnima continues to attract widespread admiration from fans. Despite turning 44 on 11 July, the actor remains one of Dhallywood’s most celebrated stars. Born on 11 July 1981 in Fatikchhari, Chattogram, she recently celebrated her 45th birthday.
The viral discussion began after Purnima shared an emotional video on social media featuring herself spending cheerful moments with several women. Alongside the post, she added heart emojis and wrote, “These are my friends.”
The video quickly spread online, with many social media users speculating about the women featured in the clip.
Speaking at a recent event, Purnima revealed the story behind the now-viral video.
“I visit a resort where they prepare wonderful food. I love eating there. I go into the kitchen to see what they’re cooking,” she said.
“They wait for me to arrive so they can show me what they’re making. Sometimes I help a little by cutting cucumbers or lemons. They genuinely like me and treat me with great warmth,” she added.
Purnima also clarified that there was no hidden meaning behind the post.
“I uploaded that video myself. Later, I even shared another video while doing a photoshoot with my friend,” she said.
“I didn’t create the ‘friend’ story. You all made them my ‘friends’,” the actor added, referring to the speculation that followed the video’s release.
