A Dhaka court on Wednesday set July 27 for submission of the probe report in a graft case filed against five individuals, including former Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), Professor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) failed to submit its investigation report on the scheduled date.
Earlier, on July 18, 2025, the ACC filed the case through its Assistant Director Minhaz Bin-Islam, alleging embezzlement of funds from a development project of BRUR.
Other accused in the case include former BRUR vice-chancellor and project director Professor AKM Nurunnabi, former executive engineer and member of the tender evaluation committee Jahangir Alam, and two contractors-Abdus Salam Bachhu and MM Habibur Rahman.
In a separate development, a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Professor Kalimullah from his Mohammadpur residence on 7 August last year.
He was later placed on a five-day remand on 27 August, 2025, in connection with the case.
