A prisoner died at Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj on Wednesday morning.
Around 10am, Alauddin, 30, was taken unconscious to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Inspector Md Faruk, in‑charge of the DMCH Police Camp, said the inmate fell ill in the morning and was brought to the hospital’s emergency department by prison guards. The body has been kept at the morgue for autopsy, he added.
Details of the case in which Alauddin was convicted were not immediately known.
