Police cordoned off the field of a mosque in Savar on Wednesday morning after locals spotted a blue plastic drum containing clothes, a copy of the Quran, and a pressure cooker.
Officers later confirmed the object appeared to be a pressure cooker‑like bomb.
A bomb disposal team from Dhaka was dispatched to recover the device, while police secured the area for public safety.
Bhabanipur Police Outpost in‑charge Imran Hossain of Savar Model Police Station confirmed the incident around 10am.
Earlier around 8am, residents of Ghora Mosque field in Sadapur, Bongao Union, noticed the suspicious drum and alerted police.
According to Imran, three unidentified individuals left the drum in the mosque field the previous night. In the morning, locals discovered the Quran, clothing, and the pressure cooker‑like bomb inside.
Police then sealed off the area and called in the bomb disposal unit from Dhaka to neutralise the device.
The incident comes a day after CTTC recovered explosives from a house in Savar’s Shyampur area and detained one suspect, Arif.
Police identified Arif as a JMB leader, saying he has links to the Keraniganj explosion and connections to the Motijheel incident.
