Actress Porimoni has filed a counter-case against her former domestic help Pinky Akhter and four others, accusing them of defamation and spreading fabricated content online.
The case was filed on Wednesday at Dhaka’s Cyber Tribunal, where the actress personally appeared to record her statement.
Following her deposition, the court directed the Officer-in-Charge of Bhatara Police Station to investigate and submit a report.
Assistant Public Prosecutor of the tribunal, Miraj Uddin Shikder, confirmed the filing of the case.
According to Porimoni, Pinky was hired on March 5 through an agency and was paid Tk 20,000 on March 27.
However, on April 2, Pinky left the residence and began, what Porimoni alleges, a “malicious campaign” against her involving “false, obscene, and fabricated allegations” that have since been amplified by several online platforms.
In her complaint, Porimoni stated: Other domestic workers in my house never had issues, but Pinky Akhter has continuously spread deliberate lies about me. A gang is using her to damage my reputation and expose sensitive personal information, causing me severe mental distress.”
The accused in the case include: Pinky Akhter; Morshed Sumon, owner of the portal Sokol Khobor; Protidiner Bangladesh Entertainment, Peoples News, and Digital Khobor.
This counter-action follows a criminal complaint filed by Pinky Akhter on April 17, accusing Porimoni of attempted murder — a case currently being investigated by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Porimoni, a figure often in the media spotlight due to her turbulent personal life — including high-profile relationships, legal controversies, and arrests — finds herself once again at the center of public and legal attention.
