Police officers have been instructed to discharge their duties with the highest level of professionalism to ensure people receive fair and timely justice.
The directive was issued during the monthly crime review meeting for May 2026, held virtually at Bangladesh Police Headquarters on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Inspector General (Crime and Operations) Khandaker Rafiqul Islam.
Metropolitan police commissioners, range deputy inspectors general (DIGs), and district superintendents of police joined the meeting virtually.
Senior officials, including DIG (Crime Management) Mohammad Abu Sufian and DIG (Operations) Md Rezaul Karim, attended from the Police Headquarters.
Addressing the meeting, the additional IGP directed officers to strengthen oversight of criminal investigations and ensure cases are investigated professionally to facilitate the speedy completion of trials.
He also instructed police personnel to take necessary measures to ensure their own safety and protect government property while carrying out law enforcement operations.
The two-day monthly crime review meeting brought together officials from metropolitan police units and police ranges on the first day, while officers from specialised units participated on the second day.
The meeting reviewed the overall crime situation for May 2026, the execution of arrest warrants against convicted offenders, progress in case investigations, trial outcomes, conviction rates, and several recent significant incidents.
