Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday fulfilled the request of Bangladesh’s gold medal-winning team at the Asia-Pacific Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (AI) by arranging for them to observe a live sitting of Parliament from the VVIP gallery.
The visit came two days after the students expressed their wish to witness parliamentary proceedings during a courtesy call on the prime minister at his office on Sunday.
In addition to watching the session, the delegation toured the National Parliament building.
The delegation included Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad coach Mohammad Azam Khan, academic coordinator and mentor Tasnim Mahfuz Nafis, gold medallist Tridib Roy Arjo, and team members Naira Nawar Ahmed, Ananya Jarif Akand, Nawfil Rahman, Mubtasim Chowdhury Piyom and Murtaza Abdullah.
Their family members also accompanied them during the visit.
During Sunday’s meeting, Tarique congratulated the team on securing international recognition for Bangladesh through their success at the Asia-Pacific Olympiad in AI.
He also discussed the students’ research activities, innovative projects, academic pursuits and future aspirations, encouraging them to continue contributing to innovation and technological advancement.
When the students shared their interest in attending a live parliamentary session, the prime minister immediately directed the relevant authorities to facilitate the visit.
Acting on his instructions, the authorities arranged for the delegation to watch Tuesday’s parliamentary proceedings from the VVIP gallery.
