Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed deep condolences over the death of Dilara Hafiz, wife of Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
Dilara Hafiz passed away while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital at around 1:30 pm local time.
She is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, grandchildren, and many admirers.
According to party sources, her body will be brought back to Bangladesh on Saturday evening.
Her namaz-e-janaza is scheduled to be held on 30 March at 11am at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad.
Further funeral prayers will be held at the central mosque of Dhaka Cantonment after Zuhr prayers, followed by her burial at the Banani Military Cemetery, according to the BNP media cell.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Deputy Speaker Kaiser Kamal, and Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni also expressed deep sorrow over her death.
Dilara Hafiz had been receiving treatment at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital for a prolonged period before being flown to Singapore by air ambulance on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr for advanced medical care.
