The High Court (HC) has granted bail to Sheikh Tasnim Afroz Emi, former vice president of Dhaka University’s Shamsunnahar Hall Union, in a case filed over playing of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s historic 7th March speech.
A HC bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher delivered the order on Thursday.
The case was filed under Anti-Terrorism Act.
Around 9:30pm on the night of 7 March, Emi and several others announced a programme to play the speech in front of Shahbagh Police Station.

While the speech was being broadcast from a rickshaw using loudspeakers, Ducsu leader AB Zubair, Mosaddeq Ali Ibn Mohammad, and Tahmid Al Modassir, convener of the student wing of the National Communist Party, along with a group of DU students, tried to obstruct the programme.
At one stage, Zubair and Mosaddeq forcibly took Emi and another person, along with the rickshaw, inside the police station. Police then detained them.
The following day, the detainees were shown arrested in the case and sent to jail. Police filed the case as complainant.
